Privacy Policy
We collect the minimum we need to schedule and publish your content, and we never sell it.
1. Who we are
SocialCanon ("we", "us") operates the website socialcanon.com and the SocialCanon application (together, the "Service"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Service, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions can be sent to privacy@socialcanon.com.
2. Information we collect
Account information
When you create a SocialCanon account we collect your name, email address, and a password (stored as a salted hash). If you sign in through a third-party provider, we receive the basic profile information that provider shares with us.
Connected social media accounts
When you connect a Pinterest account, you authorize SocialCanon through Pinterest's OAuth flow. We receive and store an access token, your Pinterest username and profile details, and the list of boards you can publish to. We never receive or store your Pinterest password.
Content you create
We store the pins you compose — images, titles, descriptions, destination links, and scheduling details — so we can publish them at the time you choose.
Usage and technical data
We collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) and basic product analytics to keep the Service secure and to understand which features are used.
3. How we use information
- To operate the Service: publishing your content to the accounts and boards you select, at the times you schedule.
- To keep your account secure and to detect abuse.
- To communicate with you about your account, publishing failures, and material changes to the Service.
- To improve the Service using aggregated, de-identified usage data.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use your content or your connected accounts for advertising.
4. Pinterest data
Our use of information received from the Pinterest API is limited to providing the scheduling and publishing features you request, and complies with Pinterest's Developer Guidelines. We only access the scopes you grant during authorization. Disconnecting an account from SocialCanon, or revoking access from your Pinterest settings, stops all further access immediately and we delete the associated access token.
5. Sharing
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service (hosting, email delivery, error monitoring), who are bound to use it solely on our behalf; with Pinterest and any other platform you have explicitly connected, in order to publish your content; and when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of SocialCanon and its users.
6. Retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Published pins and their metadata are retained so you can review your history; you can delete individual items at any time. When you delete your account we remove your personal data and connected-account tokens within 30 days, except where we must retain records to meet legal obligations.
7. Security
Access tokens are encrypted at rest, all traffic is served over HTTPS, and access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can do most of this from your account settings; for anything else, email privacy@socialcanon.com and we will respond within 30 days.
9. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect against cross-site request forgery. We do not use third-party advertising cookies on this website.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. If the changes are material we will notify you by email or with a notice in the Service before they take effect.
